چکیده

Introduction. Moraxella bovoculi is frequently isolated from the eyes of cattle with infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK; pinkeye). As M. bovis, which has been causally linked to IBK, expresses an RTX (repeats in structural toxin) cytotoxin that related bovis cytotoxin. Pilin, another pathogenic factor , required for corneal attachment. Seven antigenically distinct pilin serogroups have described . Hypothesis/Gap Statement. Multiple different exist amongst type IV encoded by however, it not known whether exhibits a similar degree diversity encodes. Aim. This study was done characterize (PilA) cases IBK determine if exists PilA sequences. Methodology. Ninety-four isolates collected between 2002 and 2017 23 counties throughout California five four other Western states were evaluated. Results. DNA sequencing determination deduced amino acid sequences revealed ten (designated groups A through J) unique ~96.1–99.3 % identical. Pilin C matched previously reported putative IBK-affected USA (Virginia, Nebraska, Kansas) Asia (Kazakhstan). The identified only ~74–76 identical proteins whole-genome derived deep nasopharyngeal swabs IBK-asymptomatic cattle. Conclusions. Compared geographically diverse are more conserved.

Draft Genome Sequence of Moraxella bovoculi Strain 237T (ATCC BAA-1259T) Isolated from a Calf with Infectious Bovine Keratoconjunctivitis

Moraxella bovoculi is a recently identified species, recovered from the bovine eye, which is under investigation as an etiological agent of infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis. A draft genome sequence of the Moraxella bovoculi type strain 237(T) has been determined to identify features that may be important during host colonization.

Large genomic differences between Moraxella bovoculi isolates acquired from the eyes of cattle with infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis versus the deep nasopharynx of asymptomatic cattle.

Moraxella bovoculi is a recently described bacterium that is associated with infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK) or "pinkeye" in cattle. In this study, closed circularized genomes were generated for seven M. bovoculi isolates: three that originated from the eyes of clinical IBK bovine cases and four from the deep nasopharynx of asymptomatic cattle. Isolates that originated from the eye...

Semiselective medium for isolation of Moraxella bovis from cattle with infectious keratoconjunctivitis.

The incorporation of 2.5 micrograms/ml of cloxacillin into 5% bovine blood agar provided an inexpensive, easily prepared culture medium for the primary isolation of Moraxella bovis from bovine lacrimal and nasal secretions. With this medium, the time required to identify and isolate M. bovis from large numbers of field specimens was substantially reduced, whereas the sensitivity of isolation wa...

Moraxella spp. isolated from field outbreaks of infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis: a retrospective study of case submissions from 2010 to 2013.

Infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK), also known as pinkeye, is the most costly eye disease of cattle. The principal etiologic agent of IBK is the Gram-negative bacterium Moraxella bovis. However, there have been reports of IBK outbreaks associated with Moraxella bovoculi. A retrospective study of IBK diagnostic cases submitted from July 1, 2010 through October 31, 2013 was conducted. I...

Diversity of Moraxella spp. strains recovered from infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis cases in Uruguay.

BACKGROUND Infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK) is the most common ocular disease that affects cattle throughout the world and it has a very significant economic impact. IBK is caused by members of the genus Moraxella and therapeutic and preventive measures have shown limited success. Vaccines, most of them chemically inactivated bacterins, generally induce a limited protection. METHO...
